IDG Welcomes Cindy Freed

Cindy Freed is a writer, genealogist, wife to Ron and mother of four. Living in Northwest Ohio where six previous generations of her family have lived, Cindy has been researching her family history on and off for the last 20 years.

During a family vacation four years ago, Gettysburg was added as a last minute stop on their way to Philadelphia. It was while standing at the high-water mark of the Confederacy, close to the Bloody Angle that she looked across the field where the brave men of Pickett’s Charge were crushed. She stood in awe of the dedication and loyalty all soldiers brought to the battlefield. Ever since that moment the Civil War has been her niche.

Along with her sister, Cindy has researched her own Civil War ancestor, George Washington Lowery, a private with Co. A of the 81st Pennsylvania Infantry. She has walked where he walked, tracing his regiments path west across Virginia, just as Grant and the Army of the Potomac did, pursuing Lee in the final week of the war.

Cindy’s website at cindyfreed.com is where she maintains her blog, GenealogyCircle, which includes a special weekly edition of her Civil War Saturday posts.

Welcome, Cindy! We at The In-Depth Genealogist are blessed to have you as a part of our team.
