Michelle Goodrum is a family historian, blogger, wife and mother of two college-age daughters. She grew up in the Pacific Northwest graduating from the University of Washington with a degree in Business. She and her husband moved to the greater Phoenix, Arizona area a number of years ago.
Michelle began researching her family’s history in the early 1990s. Her ancestors saved everything so when her childhood home sold, Michelle became the caretaker of over 130 years of family history treasures providing the opportunity to further develop her organizational and researching skills.
Many of those treasures included records and photographs regarding her ancestors’ homes and property. As a result, Michelle has developed an interest in researching land and has visited numerous places where they once lived. Land records, mapping skills, modern technology like Google Earth, and a camera to record her discoveries are just some of the tools used to uncover her family’s history in this area.
The Turning of Generations is where Michelle blogs. It can be found at turning-of-generations.blogspot.com . She also has a “Project 365” photography blog called Shutterbug Generations.
Stay tuned for more information about Michelle’s upcoming column on land records.
