If you are near or in Colorado, and you want a quick trip to a neat place, try St. Elmo. One of Colorado's best Ghost Towns, St. Elmo has 8 year round residents, according to Wikipedia. Great preserved buildings, a nearby cemetery, and beautiful scenery make it worth the drive.
