Who We Are
Stephanie Pitcher Fishman (Corn and Cotton Genealogy), Terri O’Connell (Finding Our Ancestors), Jennifer Alford (Jenealogy), and Jen Baldwin (Ancestral Journeys) are the faces behind The In-Depth Genealogist. However, they couldn’t do what they do without their writers, contributors, and supporters. All four are active in the genealogy community as well as in their own niche. Terri runs a successful home-based travel agency. Stephanie focuses more on researching, writing, and social media projects. Jen B. is a genealogist and family historian focusing on the settlers of the Rocky Mountains through presentations and unique research projects. Jen is also the SEO specialist for The In-Depth Genealogist. By day, Jennifer A. is an engineer. As a genealogist, she specializes in Jewish genealogy among other areas of research. She also runs a successful Etsy shop offering decorative family trees.
How We Came to Be
The In-Depth Genealogist originally began as an email newsletter for Corn and Cotton Genealogy written by various genealogists. What started as a small monthly newsletter became part of a larger idea when Terri volunteered to help Stephanie with an upcoming issue, and Jen was IDG’s first contributing author creating both The Family Atlas and Featured Genealogist columns. Jennifer completed the team in February 2013. Little did they all know, The In-Depth Genealogist would become so much more to each of them.
Where We are Going
Our goal for The In-Depth Genealogist was always to transition from a small monthly email newsletter to an online digital community that encourages genealogists of every level to expand their knowledge and skills in a welcoming atmosphere. We dream of connecting genealogists through ways such as an online forum, video and audio chats, and so much more. We hope that IDG becomes a welcoming community for all genealogists regardless of experience, hobby, or professional aspirations.
