cover ebook small1

Using common, and simple, tactics loosely titled Search Engine Optimization, or SEO, can have a great impact on your genealogy or family history blog. Learning to utilize those tools can be intimidating to some, downright scary to others. IDG Welcomes Jen Baldwin

We at The In-Depth Genealogist are excited to introduce our newest addition: writer and genealogist Jen Baldwin.     Born in rural Washington State with Mt. Rainier in her daily view, Jen’s love with the mountains and forests began early and has continued into her adult life.  Marrying in 2004, Jen and her husband traveled the western United States through their early life together, finally settling in Breckenridge, Summit County, Colorado. Both avid snowboarders, they were excited to raise their family in such a magnificent corner of the world.   After the passing of her maternal grandmother, Jen became interested in the hobby of genealogy and conducted her research, as time and her career would allow, for the next decade.  The opportunity to commit more time and further her experiences and skill level exposed themselves in 2010 – 2011. Through becoming a member of the National Genealogical Society and pursuing a Certified Genealogist title from the Board for Certification of Genealogists, Ancestral Journey was born.  Specializing in the western states, specifically Washington and Colorado, she soon recognized a great lack of researchers in the Rocky Mountain region.  Jen began with volunteer work, donating time, energy, and much enthusiasm to the Trails to the Past (TTTP) and FindAGrave communities on-line.  Her Summit County all-volunteer website is still going strong.  She also administers the Colfax County, Nebraska website for TTTP. Additionally, she has led family history projects with a local Girl Scout Troop; worked with the Breckenridge Heritage Alliance; conducts volunteer research on Summit County pioneers; and maintains her own genealogy story by writing Ancestral Breezes. Follow Jen on Twitter, @ancestryjourney.   We look forward to having Jen as part of the team! Read more tomorrow about her brand-new column for IDG.     Read More »
